Raspbian Buster だと、5GHz の WiFi がデフォルトで OFF になっている？

手持ちの Raspberry Pi 3 を Buster にアップグレードしたところ、気づいたらネットワークが切れていました。

Raspberry Pi の公式OSである Raspbian の新しいバージョン Buster がリリースされました。apt で利用する sources.list の "stretch" のところを "buster" にすることで、apt dist-upgrade コマンドでアップグレードできます。修正するファイルは2つです。$ sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list$ sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list.d/raspi.listちなみに、ファイルの中身はこんな感じです。$ less /etc/apt/sources.listdeb http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/ buster main contrib non-free rpi# Uncomment line...

調べたところ、なんと 5GHz の WiFi がデフォルトでは、OFF となってしまう仕様になったようです。。。

Buster のリリースノートに、以下のように記載されてました。

* On-board 5GHz WiFi blocked by rfkill by default
The block is removed when taking one of the following actions:
– Selecting a locale in the first run wizard
– Setting the WiFi country in the Raspberry Pi Configuration tool or the Network Settings applet
– Setting the WiFi country in raspi-config
– Providing a wpa_supplicant.conf file through the boot partition
– Running ‘rfkill unblock wifi’

WiFi を有効にするには、raspi-config コマンドで「WiFi country」の項目で「日本 (JP)」に設定することで、使えるようになりました。

他にも、リリースノートに記載の方法で有効にできると思います。
